Don’t forget: TURN BACK YOUR CLOCK 1 HOUR

Did you ever wonder why we practice the event of Daylight Savings Time?  Well, thank  Benjamin Franklin.  Franklin, who is known for his quote,

“Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise” and he was the first to consider this process of today’s Daylight Savings Time. Franklin wrote about Daylight Savings Time back in an essay he wrote back in 1784. Franklin wrote down in his thought process  that by turning the clocks ahead in the Spring that we would gain an extra hour of sunlight and therefore saving on candles.  That theory still remains similar in thought throughout US History that this process would help conserve energy.  The Uniform Time Act of 1966 outlines the history of Daylight Savings Time. Moreover,  it was a consideration that the process of gaining an hour of sunlight would make the roads safer because lesser people would be traveling during dark hours of the evening.
