If you are lucky and after dawn you can spot mothers of Florida Sea Turtles floating along the Atlantic Ocean. It is exciting to see this mother’s trying to make it on the beach. But the part that Florida Sea Turtles are an endangered species is sad. I get always very excited every time I spot a mother on the Beach and hope so much the next generation can have the same excitement as I feel every time.See the Turtles from Your Oceanfront Condo
Along our Fort Lauderdale Beach, we expect three species of Sea Turtles to nest. They have done so for the past hundred years. You may have seen the markers during this time on the beaches, which notify the public of a turtle nest. Did you know it is against the law to disturb those nests or interfere with hatchling
Did you know it is against the law to disturb those nests or interfere with hatchling and/ or disturb any nesting sea turtle? Let our next generation have the same enjoyment of those turtles coming to our beaches.
On our beach, you can find turtles such as
- Loggerhead Turtle
- Leatherback Turtle and
- Green Turtle
If you spot a sea turtle please keep your distance so that she can not see you. When sea turtles come on the sand they are trying to lay their eggs for that event only and will go back into the ocean when done. It is important that you do not disturb the process. There are many organizations to protect and conserve the endangered species and you can find information on Florida Sea Turtle nesting there as well.
Many organizations have several interesting information about turtles and what to do when you spot one, see turtle babies hatchling or find disoriented turtles. Volunteers spend their free time to watch the nest during hatching season and Fort Lauderdale gives opportunities to Tour the Turtles Nesting and be lucky and see them hatching.See the Turtles from Your Oceanfront Condo
You can too do your part by keeping our beaches clean. Almost every time I walk along our beach I end up picking up the garbage and trash which has left behind. Do your part and keep the trash away, if you see some please pick them up. This is a big distraction and dangerous for turtles trying to get on land.
If you want to save those creatures for our next generation protect those Turtles and be aware of how you can help save, conserve and protect our Florida Sea Turtles.
